Right - but this is total crap. Obviously, the company was "restructuring" and the idea of selling itself off was in the works. This is another union busting tactic intended to promote fear and loathing. Big business just wants the unions go away. Typical.

They were objecting to a 2% cut in wages and benefits......looks like they bargained it out to 100%. Union busting my ass, the company reached an agreement with the Teamsters, but a small union would not agree. Even the Teamsters are pissed at the other union..........

Looks like the union in this case cooperated 100%.

Looks like this was actually a Union vs Union dispute. The Teamsters accepted the court directed concessions, but the BCGTM Union rejected them, forcing Hostess to close per court ordered restructuring directives. Also, it appears that the BCGTM Union members approximately 6,000 strong, ARE NOT eligible for unemployment benefits. They essentially "quit", taking the 12,500 other workers down with them. Maybe some kind venture capital firm will buy up the assets and HO HO HO all the way to the bank.

Oh for pete's sake. The company was NOT doing well. At 50% production, it would have folded anyways - which is why it was going bankrupt. That's not so much the unions as it is poor management and/or decisions - and the fact that unless you have a death wish, most people don't eat that garbage anymore.

Management can NEVER accept responsibility and ALWAYS blames its employees.

You guys are really great. A company is ordered by the court to cut employee salaries and bennies by TWO PERCENT. A group of employees does not accept the reduction. So, according to the ruling of the bankruptcy judge, if the orders of the court are not accepted by all employees, then the court orders that the company be dissolved. So this is the fault of management.

Fast forward to Papa John. Papa John's is reducing their work force and reducing the hours worked by some employees so that the company can stay profitable and stay viable. As in the example of Hostess, the alternative would be greatly reduced profits or even bankruptcy. So the left is going to boycott them because management is trying to stay in business.

Guys you can't have it both ways....

I know whereof you speak.....I can remember a picture my grandfather had (wish I knew where it is). The picture was taken at our kitchen table in 1942. He had emptied his briefcase on the table. It was filled with currency, his pay for the week. In 1947 or 1948 they exchanged the inflated Reichsmark for the new Deutsche Mark at the rate of 10 RM to 1 DM. If you had more than 5000RM to exchange they gave you a worse exchange rate.....50% less or something like that. The sad part was, most everyone had money, but there was nothing to buy with it. Grocery items were rationed and things like coffee, tea or anything imported was impossible to get. I still have a ration card from the year 1945. It called for a daily calorie intake of 760 calories. Butter was rationed at 20grams (.7oz) per day. Meat (if you could find it) 600 (1 1/5 lbs) grams a month. You could get 125grams (1/4 lbs) of coffee, but it was mostly chicory............ah, those were the days, lol......

Papa John's owner is just venting against workers because Mitt lost.
