I can vaguely remember the great one touting all the jobs he created and saved in OH and PA. Now we see some real numbers. I guess the folks in those two States have to live with it now. They wanted him, they got him.......or is it going to be John Kasich's fault in Ohio. Jobless Claims ...and just in case you don't like the Breitbart article, feast your eyes on this one: United States Department of Labor Press Release

Please explain why it is the job of a government of a Republic or Democracy, in a free market economic system, to "create" jobs for its citizens. I thought that was what socialist, fascist or communist governments did. Or are you advocating changing our governing structure to one of those other than democratic ? And when you are finished with that, please explain exactly how a government does that....excluding, of course, those jobs created by a government, national, state or local, created to carry out its own legitimate functions.

The government can, through tax overhaul, export regulations, etc., create an environment that is conducive to businesses being created and existing business to expand. Both of these scenarios will create jobs which in turn will create taxpayers. As has been proven over and over again, our high tax rate on corporations has caused a mass exodus to overseas locations. Add to that our high, union induced labor rates in the manufacturing sector and you have a double whammy for jobs being lost. Yes, you are right, the government can't directly create jobs in the private sector, but it sure can enhance the business climate so that the labor force, the economy AND the tax revenues see healthy growth.

Well....you know the Einstein definition of insanity. Maybe we need something new? Like having elections where you can only vote for a party instead of individuals. How simple would it be to get an undivided government if each party was compelled to just field a National ticket every four years. Each party publishes the candidates they have chosen for the house, senate and president............you then go to the polls.....push either Dem, Rep, or green or whatever......who ever wins goes en mass to Washington and does the governing thing.....if they f**k it up , four years later they all go home en mass and the other party takes over. Sure would be cheaper.

Oh so you believe in clean coal, but not workers health rights. Much like your belief in Santa Klaus, but not the Tooth Fairy.

See also, Economic growth during the Eisenhower years. Eisenhower's interest in balancing the budget and paying down the national debt led to his refusal to apply the tax cuts that many across the nation wanted. And there was economic stability. Under Eisenhower's eight years in office the economy chugged along with an average growth rate per year of 2.4 percent -- but less than the 4 percent average growth rate during the Truman years. * * = Go ahead and Pick One, anyone Whining f'tards But there's no bubble

Even with the lethargic growth of the economy AND with the Bush Tax Cuts in effect, tax revenue for the country INCREASED by 6 percent during the past fiscal year. The major increases were from corporate and individual incomes. I am not much of an economist, but something is working correctly. But the problem is that the more they take in, the more they want to spend. I think a big improvement would be to get rid of the baseline budgeting method that the government uses. Many years when I was on active duty, Christmas came twice a year. Once in December, and the other at the end of the fiscal year. Every penny that was left had to be spent, or big brother would cut your budget for next year. Zero based budgeting would be a much better approach. It would require every item to be approved, rather than automatically approve last years amount. Here is the article on receipts for the past year. There are some numbers there that show real promise, but only if we show fiscal restraint: Congressional Budget Office Report .....and to get to the point I was trying to make earlier. The economy is growing, people are working, they are paying their taxes. The majority of these layoffs and plant closings are not due to the economy, but due to this administrations policies. Quote: In some cases, the companies have cited the President’s second term and the tax implications from Obamacare as reason for this action, while others have tied their cutbacks to some of the administration’s restrictive regulations. More layoffs

aaah the ever mythological economic growth story. Good to inspire young children when you want them to do chores for allowance, (not less than minimal wage mind you ), so they don't hit your pocket book too hard come college time. Works really well on potential investors too when one doesn't have a hope in hell in having the actual funds for the company you want to bilk and have leveraged out your ass for, (while still collecting a hefty salary & benny package of course ). While you dream, I'll just warm my feet by a fire of those nice crisp paper products Hanks seems to feel we have too many of.
