Many years ago, I pondered collecting all the offspring of Richard Mueller crosses. Then I discovered how many there were and thought perhaps I was nuts. Now that I have a happy place for my orchids to live, I think I'm going to try. Also, I saw the photo of the Blc. Golden Tang, I had thought that perhaps my desire was not so crazy after all. So, is there anyone out there willing to trade me some Richard Mueller offspring? I have mostly intergeneric hybrids in my collection, so I probably can't offer anything good and given that Chicago is in the teens right now, I'm mostly trying to negotiate trades that will actually ship in the spring. However, would love to try to trade for some Richard Mueller children if you all are willing to indulge me.
Also, can people suggest good Richard Mueller crosses? I will be buying some, but looking at lists of names isn't very useful for me because I'm not familiar enough with all the parents. I already own the following Richard Mueller children:
Bl. Yellow Bird Blc. Copper Queen Bl. Petite Stars Bc. Hoku Gem
I had a Blc. Hawaiian Treat, but I killed it. I would love to get another.
Thank you.

You can go to: www.hrnurseries.com/ The catalog is under Downloads. They are specialists in Bl Richard Mueller crosses. Their catalog lists the name of the cross AND the parents for each plant. The first two pages or so are meristems, and the rest are hybrids, both old and new. There is also hundreds of photos of everything available. You must have Adobe Reader to open the catalog. You may have a cautionary note when clicking the link but it is completely safe.

Spencer I agree that looking at a list of names won't be that helpful because so many look alike. I use to have Hawaiian Leopard but it looks so similar to Copper Queen I wouldn't recommend it. I suggest you click on the Search option for OSF and go to the Advanced window, type in Mueller and be sure to select subject and body. There should be a slew of photos to look at here.

Yes, they are. Odom's plant are very large, ie fill the pot, and are generally well grown.

Otr Hidden Gold is a cutie and it is in bloom continuously. Flowers open almost red and mature to bright yellow, that's why they called it hidden gold.

I missed the fact that Otaara Hidden Gold is a Richard Mueller offspring. I actually have one in my collection already! It bloomed last year, but for some reason has chosen not to spike this year. Here is a photo of mine from last year.

Don't cut the green spike yet, sometimes they branch and re-bloom like B nodosa does.

Yep, the branching is at a node lower than the first flowered bract.

I'm a Richard Mueller fan as well, my current plant is Rustic Spots (RM x C. landate), good spots and fragrant in the sun.
I may be in Chicago this spring/summer and could bring a piece with me?

I have a single piece left of Bc. Hoku Gem that I might be willing to trade for the right species (that would be one I don't have )

And it is actually in bloom right now. I'm reminded I should get a picture of it even if the blooms are sort of pitiful.

You can ask for Roy Tokunaga and ask him those questions. I know they always have Richard Mueller crosses somewhere because people keep asking for them. It doen't hurt to ask! Maybe he can tell you where to find them if they do not have any.

Spencer, for all but the Judy Robson go to H & R's website. Alas, I called H&R and they said that they only had the Golden Tang and only one plant and that the Golden Tang was not very good. I also asked if there was any chance if they would be re-making the other crosses, but they didn't know. So, if anyone has these crosses and would trade me a piece, I would be very grateful, especially the Hawaiian Treat.
