Oh my goodness, nanmen, I've never even seen most of those Cymbidiums. They are soooo beautiful and I'd love to smell each
one of them. Thank you so much.

Hello Rich! It is a little difficult to understand the sentence clearly for me.I think I should read more English literature .
13!The parrot is rarer than panda!Peolpe treat it as pet?Even in Yichang city, some big parrot were sold as pet.I always can see the sadness in their eyes. The life of those parrots is a tragedies.
Dear Spencer Aloysius. Those pictures are famous Chinese Cymbididium.I like the 3rd picture best.Because he looks like a traditional Chinese gentleman. He has 300 years history now.
My pleasure, abaxter! The fragrance of them is different~

No nobody has kept the parrot as a pet as far as we know since 1960. They are aggresive, wilful and wild animals poorly suited to the typical conditions in which pets are kept. We only know of a very few cases in which birds that survived in captivity in the years before 1950. By law these birds cannot be held as pets as they are considered to be the property of all people. We breed them to release them back into the wild.

Love chinese orchids, we seldom see photos from hobbist there.

rolleyes Irma, always so literal BGIL .

To-Ro-Ran Orchids are the sacred ancient orchids of China and Japan prized for their fragrance.
Complex and subtle, their scent lifts one beyond the realm of earth.

One could be technical and identify their fragrances as having bits and pieces of various flower scents found about the earth and the precise way they layer across your olfactory palate. One could tell which component effected which physiological change in a person
, but its the whole of the fragrance to be experienced
in its transcendence of your being. angelwings

Hello again nanmen. Photos of orchid plants and flowers should be posted in the "Orchid Hybrid Photo Gallery (for hybrids); or, the Orchid Species Photo Gallery (for species).

Your English is quite good. Keep in mind that all of us find Rich difficult to understand, sometimes. Don't become frustrated if you have trouble understanding what he is saying. Sometimes we wonder if even he understands what he is saying! poke grin

nanmen, I'm one of the moderators of Orchid Soup and you can post
photos there all you want to!!! Or you can use Orchid Hybrids or
Species for posting photos. You photos are so extraordinary and
having a citizen of China here with us is sooooo nice that you can
post wherever you want to post. grin You can teach us a lot about
Chinese orchids and I hope we can pass along some information to
you as well.

May I ask if you are male or female without being too personal? My
name is Angela and I live in Corbin, Kentucky which is a small town with no
other orchid growers. This forum is my lifeline to other orchid people
and a wonderful place to connect with others in many different countries. You already have friends here. smile

You can ask me any personal qestion you want.Never mind.I am a boy.My name real is YangWei.(I am sorry for everyone.Nanmen is not my real name. But I don't like the name because it is the same as a famouse Chinese athlete.I don't like people joke with me on it.)It is a plaesure to introduce Chinese orchid for everyone! In Yichang, there are 3 species of Chinese Cymbidium in the nature. And you also can find Dendrobium. But I never see them except at flower market.
Today is a sunny day!My plants will have a sunshine bath at last.It is cloudy several days.clap

What a great description...a "sunshine bath"! The weather in KY has
been cloudy and lots of rain for the last couple of weeks, so I know
exactly what you mean. May I have your permission to use sunshine
bath and add it to my weather descriptions for KY weather?
