I have a Mac and I download all photos to iPhoto. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to post my shots from iPhoto to the Forum here.
Can anyone help? Puh-leeze???

Michael, under this message box I'm typing in is a link titled Image Uploader. Click on that and another window opens. In that window click on Browse to select the file from your computer, then click on Add File. When the file is uploaded, click on Done Adding Files. If you want some text like the photo title that needs to be typed in to the text box, before you upload the photo.

Pook, thanks so much. One problem: my photos in iPhoto are too big to download. You wouldn't know how I can re-size them, do you? The iPhoto tutorial ain't much help.

Michael, try to download IrfamView. This program has been around for at least 15 years, maybe more, and it is very nice. It has been updated to keep up with new technology. I don't know if it works on a Mac but it is worth trying. It is a photo edit program that downloads in 30 seconds ( at least that is what it took in my Windows Vista PC ). It is very user friendly and it is FREE.

IrfanView isn't for Macs. Michael, a simply google search for 'iphoto and resize' brought up many links including this tutorial.

Pook, I think that tutorial is just the ticket. (You aren't simply the "Google Queen." You're the "Google Goddess!") P.S. Well, the tutorial is great and I was able to resize and export to my desktop. Photo was 16 KB, but the image never uploaded. Any more ideas? The "Add File" wheel never stopped turning. I bet I'm, overlooking something here. Thanks for your patience.

What browser are you using. For the first few months with the new forum software I wasn't able to upload using Firefox. I had to open IE to upload a photo. Somehow somewhere the issue got resolved and now I can upload with FF. So I'm wondering if you have an alternative browser to use?

Great! And the Psychopsis isn't too big a photo. In fact some of the others would look better that size.

One other quick way to post photos from iPhoto is if you have a .Mac account (Now Me.com). With iPhoto you can upload the entire album of something to your iDisk. iPhoto automatically resizes all of them for the web and provides you with a link. Then you simply post the link and people can click on it. I typically find this easier especially when I have a series to post. You can also do this with Photoshop.. Same thing. Ie http://homepage.mac.com/bobfharris/Tokyo_Grand_Prix/An advantage of this method is that the limitation is totally on the disk space you have on your own servers. Bob.. Inveterate Mac User .. Only use for Windows: to run Orchidwiz which I run in Parallels on my Mac.

Thanks, Bob.
How are things on the Big Island? Volcano (and the Park, of course) is one of my favorite spots on this earth.

Hi Michael How's the Apple? I lived on 88th and York in the 60's when I went to Med school. I grew up in Bergen County with a view of the Empire State building out the very window where as an 8 year old I grew my first orchids in a window frame greenhouse. Things are good right now. Trades are in so Vog is low. Cymbidiums are starting to spike on the early ones, so soon the camera will be humming at a full clip.. Always nice to have new varieties to photo, but down side of course is the time it takes to run them through Photoshop to get them just right, a chore I usually postpone until I've got enough. Then I post them to my own personal website which is just for me and not well organized for others, but I keep a record of what blooms when, and how big the flowers are and the flower count. The raw files and jpg's are then all burned to CD and indexed with CD finder so I can find them later. I use name plus image # as a key so I can find the large Photoshop file if I need to print them later. I use a Canon 40D with Ring flash so I can keep the images consistent
