Hello All
I'm About 90% finished with the construction of my new 14x9 twin wall greenhouse and have arrived at an always present problem, To go with a Swamp cooler or not have looked around the net for a better swamp cooler but....
The old greenhouse ,which was a bit smaller,i had a swamp cooler in there for a while but had replaced it with a regular window mounted A/C unit , the swamp unit didn't seem to keep up with the heat and high humidity enough to cool
The perplexing problem is the increase in humidity as we go into the full baking summer days, have two fogging units going ,on timers , shade cloth is in place
Not sure if I want to cut a hole for a cooler or an A/C unit.
Just trying to get a few opinions from everyone as to the best approach to keeping the house cool to intermediate as best I can
Just trying to keep all the cooler plant in a more happy environment !
thanks in advance !

Seems to me you've already answered that - if the cooler is insufficient, why repeat that mistake?

I have not had a cooler since living is SC, but found that it was quite effective there, even with the high humidity level (which surprised me), and surely it's less-expensive to operate than an A/C unit.

What kind of temperature reduction are you shooting for? Could it be the old cooler was undersized?

Regarding the temperature crop , trying to keep the environment comfy for cooler growers like pleuros and masdavallias I know a couple of commercial grower around who use swamp coolers but there greenhouses are quite large compared to my little house

I think I might just forgo the swamp cooler and stick to the straight A/C unit
Was originally looking to try to keep operating cost down a bit by using the swamp cooler VS a straight A/C unit
Still undecided...........

You might look into split system heat pumps. The initial cost is a bit
more expensive, but the system takes care of both heating and cooling.
The additional advantage is wall mounting that is just as easy as
an a/c unit and more energy efficient.
