Description
My poor orchids are currently on display on top of the television in my kitchen. It is the only surface that I have downstairs that gets any sunlight!

If you can get blooms, it is not pitiful. evilgrin It looks quite nice. Isn't there too much heat from the TV? I'm not sure, although I know people use warming mats under their orchids and that's supposed to be a good thing.

I hang my head in shame as I get them to spike/bud in my conservatory and then I move them downstairs. whistle Stuff in spike will bloom and my Dia. Chantilly Lace 'Twinkle' did put out a second new spike while sitting on the TV.

As for heat, I don't think it is too warm if only because the TV is in the portion of the kitchen built over an old porch. I'm pretty sure we could store meat on the floor and it would stay chilled. I'm actually worried that it is too cold!

Ehm some reasons not to put stuff on the tv:

-Stuff falls into the cooling slots, short circuit etc both by water and solid materials, even dust can cause this.. so a plant with water, woodbark etc is a bad idear on top off a high voltage device like a tv wink

-Most electronic stuff doesnt like 50%++ air moisture

-It keeps the heat in the tv, fire hazard especialy in summer

-If you use metal in the items on the tv the image can actual become deformed(magnit effect)
